The Hindu Religious Institutions and Charitable Endowments Act Amendment Bill 2024 This is another attack on the sleeping Sanatan, not new, not the first and not the last. On 21 February 2024, the Congress government of Karnataka passed the Hindu Religious Institutions and Charitable Endowments Act Amendment Bill 2024 in the Assembly and would implement the amended law. According to this, a tax of 5% has been imposed on all such temples in the state whose annual gross amount of offerings in the donation box is between Rs 10 lakh and Rs 1 crore. Temples whose gross offerings exceed Rs 1 crore annually, a tax of 10% has been imposed. These are all temples, which are more than 35,000, in addition to temples under government control.
